It is custom that the new champions are given a guard of honour in any remaining matches that season, and Maresca has made it clear his side will abide by it. The two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Maresca said: "I think it's a tradition, it's something you have to do, and we're going to do. First of all, they won the league, so they deserve that, and hopefully we can be there [as champions] very soon."

Maresca's side were in contention at the top of the table in the first of the season but have fallen away, winning just seven of their last 18 league games. The Blues have not won the title since 2017 under Antonio Conte.
