Skyrim Mod Adds ’60+ Hours’ of New Content After Over a Decade In Development

A new Skyrim mod named Lordbound has released, adding over 60 hours worth of content including quests, dungeons, and items. This Skyrim mod has been in development for over a decade now, but has finally made it to its initial public release.

Skyrim‘s incredible modding community has kept the game alive for the past 14 years, with tons of creatives bringing their ideas to life via Bethesda’s classic RPG. Right now, Skyrim Special Edition has over 117,000 mods available on Nexus Mods, making it the game with the most options of any on the site. The best Skyrim mods vary in size – huge overhauls are commonplace, while small quality-of-life mods are equally important to improving the experience.

New Skyrim Lordbound Mod Adds Massive Amount of Content

Over on Nexus Mods, the long-awaited Lordbound Skyrim mod was released on October 2, adding “about 60+ hours of content” to the game. This adds the brand-new land of Druadach to Skyrim, which is described as being even larger than Dragonborn DLC area Solstheim. Included in the new content is over 40 quests, over 50 dungeons, as well as an original soundtrack and fully-voiced NPCs. There are tons of new items, too, with the Lordbound team claiming it’s “loot that you’ll want to carry over to your future adventures.”

It’s Lordbound’s main quest that sounds the most exciting of all, though. The team says it’s “the biggest main quest you’ve ever played in Skyrim, with choices and consequences that change the state of the valley.” However, it does also stress that despite the release, Lordbound remains a work in progress, so players should expect to experience bugs throughout their playthroughs.

Lordbound entered development in 2014, and showed off a flashy Skyrim trailer in 2018 that hinted at a release that year. It’s clear that the scope has increased quite significantly since then, so it’ll be exciting to see how it continues to develop now that it’s out into the world.

Incredibly, the Skyrim modding community does not seem to be slowing down any time soon. Huge mods like Lorebound are finally releasing, while other big Skyrim mods such as Skyblivion are edging ever closer to launch. This is perhaps the only benefit to Bethesda taking its time to develop The Elder Scrolls 6 – it allows these modders time to release their mods, and not be overshadowed by a shiny new game.
